The Iowa Board of Regents unanimously approved a new policy for naming university buildings and units that would not place additional restrictions on corporate names Womens Health.
The board waived a second reading of the policy Womens Health, which means it goes into effect immediately Womens Health.
The new policy was drafted after a controversy over the University of Iowa considering naming its College of Public Womens Health after Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield in exchange for a $15 million naming gift. The faculty rejected the gift because of fears it would hurt research funding Womens Health.
