Local Charities Receive Grant Money Health Insurance

Officials with the Fairfield County Community Foundation announced the grants this week. The money will benefit a variety of organizations that provide health care services, tutoring, youth services and legal workshops.

AmeriCares received $25,000 to help fund operational costs associated with the organization’s free health clinics in Danbury, Bridgeport and South Norwalk.Health Insurance The clinics provide free health care services to those in the region without insurance.

Karen Gottlieb, executive director of the clinic program for AmeriCares, said they are very grateful for the funding.

“The community foundation has been a great supporter of ours over the years,” Gottlieb said. Health Insurance “The trend is that we are not only getting more patients but more of them are sicker than in the past. As a result the resources needed to take care of the population are increasing.”

The local clinic offers walk-in services on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to noon, Wednesdays from noon to 7 p.m. Health Insurance and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. The organization also operates a mobile health clinic in New Milford and Bethel that is being paid for through a grant from Boehringer-Ingelheim.
